Amy is a professional commercial photographer who will share with us her journey from novice to winning British Life Photographer of the Year, showing images through the seasons from her farm on the edge of the Lake District.
Amy says:
“My name is Amy Bateman and I am a professional photographer living on my family’s farm just outside Kendal, here in Cumbria. It’s at home where I love capturing the farming perspective of the changing seasons, landscapes and the animals and people who live/ work there.
I do mainly commercial photography, but still enjoy portrait commissions of people and pets and am about to start running Farm Photography Tours.
My photography journey has skyrocketed since attending the Brewery Arts Centre in Kendal on an adult education evening class in 2016.
Most recently I was delighted to be the winner of the Rural Life Category in the British Life Photography awards in 2019 and was selected as the overall winner with my image you can see here ‘Intensive Care at Lambing Time’
The prize was a Sony Mirrorless camera so, I made the complete switch to Sony cameras and lenses. I am thrilled as I adore the mirrorless technology. Going from strength to strength I have recently become a Sony Alpha Creator and am enjoying doing talks and workshops sponsored by Sony.
I’m really looking forward to talking to you all soon.”
