Jim Holmes is a British/Australian professional documentary photographer who has lived and worked throughout the world. He worked extensively for Oxfam and the United Nations, and has also photographed for many tourist guides and educational books. Jim lived in Japan for many years while working on projects and this talk is his personal journey through the contradictions of Japanese life.
Jim says:
“From the country that gave us ‘high tech’ it comes as a surprise to find that many aspects of Japanese society defy modernity. Tiny tractors for miniscule fields and bullfighting where nothing gets hurt, there’s much more than mega cities, Buddhist temples and volcanos in Japan. Travel with me through the less expected sides of Japanese life and see how simple, handmade and contradictory it really can be.”
