Sport

This SIG consists mainly of about 6 members, this number can and does fluctuate, however if you have a keen interest in all things “sport” why not speak to one of the group and maybe consider joining us on one of our trips out.

If having given us a try, you wish to join our SIG, then please ask - we promise not to bite.

All we ask in return for this is that you make attempts to try to get new sports for us to photograph. A basic rule for the group is that if you make arrangements for us to photograph a particular sport’s event, and photographer numbers are limited, then you have the right to go to the event, the remainder of the group will have to decide amongst themselves who else will go with you.

As we have developed some useful contacts over the years, we often get access to places that the general public wouldn’t normally be allowed to access. Sometimes we even find ourselves standing with the national press photographers who are there to cover the event professionally, and even out on a boat on the water to shoot sailing events! This means we get images that just wouldn’t normally be possible and gives us great opportunities to produce winning, impactive images.

Here are just a few of the events we have managed to photograph :-

• Rugby - both League and Union

• Motorcycle, Motorcycle and sidecar

• Grasstrack Racing

• Motorbike Scrambling, Quad Bike Racing

• Jet Ski Racing and Acrobatics

• International Athletics

• Gymnastics

• Weightlifting

• International Basketball

There are many more, but a lot of these events do need some effort from the SIG organiser in the first instance, and that is all we ask of you if you wish to join our SIG. Normally when going to these events we like to “car share”, this helps with any expense, and gives you somebody to argue with - about how to take the perfect picture.
